 Job Title: Casual Laborer (Path to Apprentice Carpenter)

Location: Edmonton, AB
Starting Wage: $17/hour
Job Type: Casual with opportunity for Apprenticeship

Job Overview:
We are currently hiring a Casual Laborer who is eager to grow into a long-term career as an Apprentice Carpenter. This is a great opportunity for someone who is energetic, reliable, detail-oriented, and passionate about learning the carpentry trade.

What You’ll Do:

• Assist carpenters with various construction tasks on residential projects
   
• Work on both indoor and outdoor job sites in all seasons
   
• Load and unload materials
   
• Operate hand and power tools
   
• Maintain a clean and organized job site
   
• Lift and move materials (must be able to lift 50 lbs minimum)
   
• Follow safety protocols and wear proper PPE at all times
   
• Learn on the job with the goal of becoming an apprentice carpenter after a successful probationary period
   

Requirements:

• Steel toe boots (CSA approved)
   
• Basic hand tool pouch (see list below)
   
• Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly
   
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions
   
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
   
• Punctual and dependable
   
• Able to work efficiently at a fast pace
   
• Attention to detail
   
• Must be legally able to work in Canada
   
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites (preferred)
   

Probation & Advancement:

• 3-month probation period at $17/hour
   
• Potential to enter the Alberta carpentry apprenticeship program after probation
   
• Pay will increase to industry standard upon acceptance into apprenticeship
   
• Benefits available after probation
   
• WCB (Workers’ Compensation Board) coverage provided
   

Tool Pouch Requirements for a Starting Carpenter:

Please arrive with the following basic hand tools:

• Hammer (16 oz or 20 oz framing hammer)
   
• Tape measure (25 ft)
   
• Utility knife with blades
   
• Carpenter’s pencil or mechanical marking tool
   
• Speed square
   
• Nail puller
   
• Torpedo level
   
• Chalk line
   
• Tool belt or pouch
   
• Safety glasses
   
• Work gloves
   
• Multi-bit screwdriver
   

Additional tools may be required as your skills progress.
